Upcoming Military Robot Could Feed on Dead Bodies

It could be a combination of 19th-century mechanics, 21st-century technology — and a 20th-century horror movie.
A Maryland company under contract to the Pentagon is working on a steam-powered robot that would fuel itself by gobbling up whatever organic material it can find — grass, wood, old furniture, even dead bodies.
Robotic Technology Inc.’s Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot — that’s right, “EATR” — “can find, ingest, and extract energy from biomass in the environment (and other organically-based energy sources), as well as use conventional and alternative fuels (such as gasoline, heavy fuel, kerosene, diesel, propane, coal, cooking oil, and solar) when suitable,” reads the company’s Web site.

That “biomass” and “other organically-based energy sources” wouldn’t necessarily be limited to plant material — animal and human corpses contain plenty of energy, and they’d be plentiful in a war zone.
EATR will be powered by the Waste Heat Engine developed by Cyclone Power Technology of Pompano Beach, Fla., which uses an “external combustion chamber” burning up fuel to heat up water in a closed loop, generating electricity.

Thats just kinda nasty. I mean I guess you use whatever you have available in a war zone. I doubt the thing will hunt for bodies like some crazy mad machine that is blood thirsty. But I think that animals is not a problem. Just dead things. This could be a good thing though if used properly. But if we have machines eating the enemy I don’t think they are going to treat us very well on the battlefield when one of our soldiers are captured… Oh yea. they already treat our troops terrible dragging their bodies all over the street parading with them. ie blackwater incident. I don’t see a problem with this machines intended use.

ok pentagon had asked for such and even more subtile robots, like the ones that can identify persons who are having unobeing thoughts, plus they already had a robotic mechanism that is far more advanced than the one from the pic, is tested and stable in any kind of terrain, and beside weapons it has a strength to kill mechanically. So this is just the cherry from the top. And all these researches were founded by the taxpayers.

Wow personally I think this is awsome…
It’s very hard to get a robot mobile… But this could be an awsome fuel sorce for the future… Just get it to mow your yard and then power your mind control box we all love to stare at.. But it will never catch on because that would send the energy oiligarcy to lose alot of profit.
If they gain sentience who cares… It’s not like they can even get to us lol…
But yeah I think when we run out of oil we can start using these to scrape the earth of any organic matter left… To power our ever growing energy needs…

I think there will be eco tax on the new man eating robots.
