US masses naval-air-marine might in Arabian Sea opposite India, Pakistan, Iran

Three US aircraft carriers with strike groups, task forces and nuclear submarines have piled up in the waters of the Arabian Sea opposite the shores of India, Pakistan and Iran, and in the Persian Gulf.
DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the US began massing this formidable array of floating firepower at the outset of the Islamist terrorist attack on the Indian city of Mumbai last Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Tehran responded typically with a threat of retaliation should the Americans decide to use the Mumbai terrorist attack to hit Iran.
It is more likely, according to our military sources, that the Americans are on the ready in case the rising tensions between India and Pakistan over the New Delhi’s charge of Pakistani involvement in the Mumbai atrocity explodes into an armed clash on their border.

This is indicated by the units now deployed:
1. the USS John C. Stennis, which carries 80 fighter-bombers and 3,200 sailors and airmen and leads a strike group..
This carrier joins two already there, the USS Theodore Roosevelt, which patrols the northern Arabian Sea, part of whose strike group cruises opposite Iran’s southern coast; and the USS Iwo Jima, which carries a large marine contingent on board.
2. New to these waters, according to DEBKAfile’s military sources, is the Destroyer Squadron 50/CTF 55, which has two task forces: Patrol Forces Southwest Asia (PATFORSWA) for strikes against warships and the rapid deployment of marines to flashpoint arenas; and Mine Countermeasures Division 31, which stands ready to prevent New Delhi or Islamabad from mining the Arabian Sea routes connecting their ports. Those routes are vital waterways for US marine traffic supporting the war in Afghanistan.
3. To manage this armada, the command and control vessel, USS Mount Whitney, has been brought over from the Mediterranean.
4. Four nuclear submarines.
The arrival of the southwest Asian marine patrol carrier Stennis and the Mount Whitney to the Arabian Sea opposite Iran’s shores set alarm bells ringing in Tehran. Our Iranian sources note that the Islamic republic’s rulers remember that after al Qaeda’s attack on the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, the Americans did not only invade Afghanistan, but also Iraq and they fear a similar sideswipe.
The Iranian chief of staff, Maj. Gen. Ataoallah Salehi sounded a warning when he stated Sunday, Nov. 30: The “heavy weight” of enemy warships provides the Iranian side with an ideal opportunity for launching successful counter-attacks.

Obama has no plan on “talking” with the arabs, he just said that to get elected. i’m not saying this source (DEBKA) is right but if it is, why were US ships moving into that area before the attacks, that would mean they had prior knowledge of the attacks that were about to take place, I hope we can get a solid source to admit that war ships were moved into the area on wednesday

There is no economic benefits to a nuclear war, that is why although nukes may be used they won’t destroy the whole world, maybe only half of it!!! Conventional war is the way to go but I got a feeling we WILL see some nuclear weapons being used, just not the really BIG ones(20-90 Megaton)! Atomic weapons are nasty and leave the land desolate for thousands of years, how do you benefit from a wasteland?

What are aircraft carrier’s going to do with India/Pakistan??? -NOTHING-
The US is moving into the Arabian sea so that they can be safer when they attack Iran. They need a reason to sail back out of the gulf of Hormoz and this is provided. They sailed in as a show of force but know that if all hell breaks loose they do not have the buffer zone to defend against close multiple missle attacks or smaller speed boats. This will be the only way the Iranians could threaten the US warships-with smaller speed boats. If they move the fleet out into the open sea they are much less of a threat. When they are sitting in the Arabian sea they are not bottle necked. They do not have to worry about smaller craft attacks and they have plenty of time to -’out technology’ the Iranians against missle attacks yet they are still well within striking distance. DON’T TAKE YOU EYE OFF OF IRAN.

So what is the US going to do with all this firepower? Attack India or Pakistan? Or why not both at once, then for good measure just throw in Iran. Well after all then the US will only be warring with five Middle East countries all at once. No big deal for the foremost professional army of killers in the world. Why not, Americans love fireworks don’t they? Just think how wonderful and huge the fireballs will be from several nukes all going off at once? So there might be some collateral damage but hey sometimes great entertainment takes a little sacrifice you know. Can hardly wait!

The USS John C Stennis is not currently deployed, as the article says. It is in its home port in Bremerton Washington, where it’s been since November 21st. It just got back from a 2 month cruise off the coast of California. They won’t be deploying again until after Christmas.

With a few bottles of Uncle Shlommi’s kosher wine from Chile pushing up the angst levels, old Mrs Mendelsohn became quite tearful about India being Israel’s biggest customer in the global arms trade, and the way India invited our Mossad to provide intelligence and training to the paramilitary mobs of Hindutva, and keep the country safe from the Achmeds and Mustafas.
And we raised our glasses to the hard work put in by our Bush’le to encourage an arms race between India and Pakistan, making them feel honoured to join the nuclear club and get their chance to wipe one another out, without involving our armies and our gelt………
