Investigators trying to understand why a US army psychiatrist launched into a shooting spree on a military base in Texas will be poring over an internet posting he is thought to have made comparing the sacrifice of Islamist suicide bombers and American military heroes.
Thirteen people were killed and more than 30 were injured when Major Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire at Fort Hood yesterday afternoon in a part of the base where soldiers are prepared for deployment to Afghanistan and Iraq.
The gunman himself was shot four times and was reported last night to be unconscious and on a ventilator in a nearby hospital. The female officer said to have shot him is also in hospital.
Major Hasan, 39, whose job involved counselling soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after overseas tours, had himself fought a long and unsuccessful campaign against deployment to Iraq – which a cousin described as “his worst nightmare”.

No one should take the swine flu vaccine – it is one of the most dangerous vaccines ever devised. There is more to this than meets the eye? Whats the betting the shooter who is in hospital is attacked in his hopital bed and killed and therefore we will not get to hear from him and his motives in a trial. Although because he is amilitary person he would probably be court martialled and this will take place behind closed doors! Its all a bit strange and I am thinking that if he makes a recovery he will not remember what he has done!

The Iraqis and Afghans would say you reap what you sow. The fact US military psychiatrist lost his mind and killed his comrade in arms, can very well describe that the entire US military has become seriously mentally unstable. Had he killed in Afghanistan, the blame would conveniently have fallen on the Taliban and the matter about some deranged US soldier was to blame would have been hushed up. This possibly could be happening a lot in Afghanistan for years and even right now, but it is never reported.
But because it happened in the USA – there are no Taliban in the USA, so who to blame and how to save face? Easy – blame and Arab-Muslim soldier. The perpetrator could very well be a Christian one. With the kind of machine guns that are around, 13 is a very small number – he must have killed many more at least twice as many and wounded more than the US military is disclosing. The lies which are being reported about the war in Afghanistan and the US military becoming upset with the AP news agency for reporting the death of 21 year old US soldier – no bad news allowed to come out from Afghanistan.
In the Vietnam war, the media was free to report things and the military attributed to its defeat to the media coverage. Now journalists are ‘embedded’ with the military – which means that news are just press releases which are cleared by the senior military officers. No one knows how bad things are in Afghanistan. But the truth comes in one way or another, like it did today.
