Weber County Schools To Link Surveillance With Police Department

Students in Ogden will have a hard time getting away with anything, as the Weber County School District is planning to install 1,000 new surveillance cameras at their 45 schools. “Ideally, everywhere in the school you’d be able to see,” says school district spokesman Nate Taggart.

The surveillance system will be directly linked to the Ogden Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center, which allows police to get a live, instant look inside each school. Deputy Director John Harvey of the Ogden Police Department says it will make their response extremely efficient in the event of an emergency. “You’d know where to deploy your assets depending on what the situation was, whether you have to do an evacuation and maybe you have the location of a potential threat, you’d be able to avoid that with the rest of the kids.”
