Jason’s caller mentioned a weird hexadecimal code in Part 5 of the series. The screen cap is below.
If you type this number (74686973206973206e6f742073696d706c7920656e7465727461696e6d656e74) from the ID card into a HEXADECIMAL to STRING converter, then you get the following message:
“this is not simply entertainment”
This may indeed be a warning or an elaborate comic book. If it is warning, then I want to give thanks to this caller!

Well I have been following this for a while. When I was doing some looking around for anything that might have been missed and found this wikipedia entry about Jericho.

“On March 12, 2009, Devil’s Due Productions announced that all storylines from the TV series will be continued in a comic book series due to start in the summer or fall of 2009.”
And Jericho has been known repeatedly to run these web games before episodes or even within episodes.
Now I am not saying this is definitely what it is counting down to just that its a possibility.

Hey does anyone remember when Coca Cola had a decoder lens that you would hold over the gobbledeegook and see a clear message? Maybe it was Coke or some other soda company – but I do remember a small plastic lens and on the label there was that encrypted code like on your car registration stickers and such… Not saying coke has anything to do with this – I am just wondering where I can find one of those deciphering lenses.

Yep, I do… I remember the Transformer line of toys from Hasbro all had the secret decoder bars on the back of their transformers, and you used a little red strip of plastic to see how powerful the stats of your new transformer was.
Of course, Megatron was always perfect… he was the embodiment of evil, and had 10’s all the way across… no flaws.

Perhaps they just failed to mention that with your new handy dandy ID cards, you get to personalize them with your very own message (converted from string to hexadecimal, of course)!
Apparently that guy felt that his new ID card was not simply for entertainment, which must have been in opposition to all of his friends, relatives, etc who thought this new ID card was the most entertaining thing since sliced bread!

High Craziness for sure – makes me wonder if they are gonna pull some real False Falg in the UK allright – certainly would have a LARGE psychological impact on the world as the UK has played such a big part in history – and they are highly vulnerable to such attacks on their little island…
Certainly would allow for extreme legislation all around the world to be pushed through with little problem…

Yeah if you read the whole Blackjack series, they even talk about a “coalition of home-grown extremists, Islamists, and Christian doomsday cultists” being the ones that will carry out the attacks.
Who knows these days – everyone has lost their minds. Glad I don’t live in a big city – or the US or UK for that matter! My family does – but they won’t be able to say I didn’t warn them for years.

If you goto the Jericho wikipedia site, you will find in the episode list that the 13th episode of the 1st season was titled “Black Jack”.

I have a bunch of family that lives in Portland (one of the cities nuked in the “art”). Do I tell them about this and look like a completely paranoid conspiracy freak or do I just run the risk that there is a small chance this happens and I am responsible for not warning them? Hexidecimal was used in mainframe computer print outs (dumps) as a coded representation of binary because obviously it would be impossible to work with binary. The fact that the string translates to a message is significant – regardless of whether a hoax or not. Whoever did it knew what they were doing.

The thing that is confusing me however is that the spaces are ‘20′ which is the octal coding system. In the hexidecimal system that I worked with (on IBM) a space was ‘40′. If somebody can reconcile this for me I’d appreciate it.

Having spoken to Titor when he was here, the man was right on so many things in retrospect… and I think everyone here needs to follow his advice.

Actually, “20″ is the hex code for a “space” in ASCII code set (used in PC’s, Windows & MAC’s) and “40″ is the hex code for a “space” in EBCDIC code set (used in Main Frames).
So the code plays out just fine for most of us folks using personal computers.

No, “20″ is hex for a space, not in octal. IBM’s sometimes used EBCDIC which is a different system LARGER than ASCII 0-255. A “40″ in EBCDIC could very well have been a space (”20″ in hex for the ASCII system).

The last slide in part 4 (number 17 out of 17) was not there this morning as of 10:00am when I last viewed the slide show and downloaded the images. There were only 16 at 10:00am. Confirmed hex message above. What is going on here?

Erm… I’ve had a look at the countdown page… and I’m not sure how you guys have read the numbers, but I don’t see it the way you do. As far as I can see there is only 4 days to go, and once the day colum hits 000 then the year column which is reading ‘01′ right now must go down by one point to 00… isn’t that correct? So basically there is only 4 days to go. Or am I examining this the wrong way? Someone please share your thoughts please.

Semis -wiki
semis (literally meaning half) was small Roman bronze coin that was valued at half an as. A co-worker got found a program that does visual recognition of barcodes. We also dug a barcode reader out of the warehouse to verify. Cross check was accurate.

I also see 1year 4 days. Interesting though… Midnight Pacific time, 3AM Easter Standard. Should be interesting. Everyone in bed, wake up to panic.
Anyways, that is a little wierd we decipher the bar code, and within 20 minutes, it’s gone and a counter replaces it. We have the original site source code, as well as screen captures of the barcode.
There appear to be some distortions in the bars between the …’s, we are currently looking into changing these around to see if any other messages exist. There is no hidden message in the bars between the dots by themselves, so we’ll see if this yields anything. To my knowlege though, this appears to be the entirety of the message. It is decoded, the countdown has started.
…you know, this could all just be hype for a movie or new TV series “Blackjack”, which would be hillarious. Just gonna throw that out there.

I’m not sure how you guys have read the numbers, but I don’t see it the way you do. It’s Kabalistic magick. Get enough of the population’s attention driven to a thing, and it becomes real. That’s why hidden messages are used; some folks think the subconscious is powerful enough to translate the codes and empower them through subconsciousness. Incidentally that’s how black magick is said to work; you charge a sigil or talisman with subconsciousness in order to make your will happen.

Is it meant to be read ’semis’ as in a proper noun/name or semi’s, slang for trucks? When Blackwater changed their name, didn’t they also change their logo for one of their divisions to a sun symbol? we have been unable to decipher the two barcodes on the ID’s, they do not appear to be complete.
It seems the needed messages were already coded and delivered, as was the barcode on the main site. I don’t think backpeddling now will result in more info. Lets see how the game progresses.

Stego means hiding messages. For many years the term was steganography (Greek: hidden writing), but with increasing use it got abbreviated to stego. The key is images. Even quite small images contain a large number of bytes. The photos I use are typically at least 50,000 bytes. But if you slightly change a few of these bytes, the change to the image is undetectable to the eye. Indeed it is also undetectable to sophisticated computer analysis – provided that the computer does not have the original for comparison.
A useful message can be quite short. If you encode a character as a byte (the normal ASCII coding), then “Explode the device in Trafalgar Square at 2pm on Friday” needs 55 bytes, but with an alphabet of 32 characters (26 letters and 6 for punctuation, spaces etc) you can pack 8 characters into only 5 bytes, reducing the message to 35 bytes and somewhat scrambling it. For improved safety, you should also run those bytes through a standard encryption tool, such as triple DES. Now all you have to do is agree which pixels will contain the message and which images to look at (maybe the second image on the blog each week).

the picture that says “beware ardent sentry” was not there this morning. go back and check the youtube videos consolodating the pictures made that were before today, none have that picture.
That picture appeared today only a little while after a caller to the Bermas show pointed out the “this is not entertainment”. A prisonplanet forum user called remix heard that and checked it out, posting his results, which were seemingly noticed by an administrator who posted the story here…

Guard plans summer exercises
DES MOINES — In June, a series of natural and manmade disasters will happen throughout the Midwest — but they will only be part of a National Guard exercise.
Central Iowans may see an increased presence of military, First Responder and law enforcement personnel June 17-24 during Vigilant Guard 09, a simulated regional emergency response hosted by the Iowa National Guard.
Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska (Federal Emergency Management Agency Region VII) organizations will participate in Iowa and in their home states.
The main Iowa exercise venue will be located in the Des Moines metropolitan area.
“We’re excited about this opportunity to exercise our emergency response plans with our local, county, state, and federal partners here in Iowa,” said Brig. Gen. Tim Orr, the adjutant general of the Iowa National Guard.
“This exercise will not only test our capabilities, but continue to enhance our ability to respond to the needs of Iowans in all types of emergencies,” he added.
Approximately 1,000 personnel will participate in the Iowa portion of the exercise, including approximately 250 soliders and airmen from the Iowa National Guard, and another 250 soliders and airmen from Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri National Guard units.
About 500 civilians from local, county, state, and federal agencies will be involved.
Vigilant Guard 09 is a seven-day, multi-state, multi-site simulation, which includes a series of training exercises designed to enhance operational relationships witin FEMA Region VII.
Exercise elements will include a train derailment, response to a foreign animal disease, and support to state agencies due to a manmade, biological release. The purpose of the training event is to identify gaps which may exist between civilian, governmental and military response organizations from participating states. Vigilant Guard 09 is a component of Ardent Sentry 2009 (AS09), a national-level emergency response exercise.

Winter Games get summer training

July 27-31 is the next big pre-Olympic military exercise. But it may not be anywhere near the Olympic city.
That’s when the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is hosting National Level Exercise 2009. The full-scale exercise “will be the first major exercise conducted by the U.S. government that will focus exclusively on terrorism prevention and protection, as opposed to incident response and recovery,” according to a news release on the Federal Emergency Management Administration website.
The exercise will take place in Washington, D.C. and at government, private sector and aboriginal facilities in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Foreign personnel from Canada, Mexico, Australia and the United Kingdom will join their U.S. hosts.
A 2007 DHS calendar pinpointed July 2009 for the terrorism-themed TOPOFF 5 full-scale exercise and listed: “Pinnacle, Chairman’s Exercise, Ardent Sentry, Able Warrior, Ultimate Caduceus (Olympics Prep).”

Perhaps the 01 on the timer does mean year. Because the days column has three digits, counting down from 365 from 366 in which it would have read 02 in the year column and not 366 in the day column?? Or 365, 23 etc..But then again why does it not go from days with two digits to months instead of years? Ah, it really could mean either year or #1. This is so frustrating! I guess we’ll find out which one it means in four days time.

I agree with Tesla… on the count down page the title of the page says “Teardropk”. When you search yahoo with Teardropk in double quotation marks (quotation marks make the searchengine look for a phrase) I found a site for an online game. SF Online. After a little bit of searching I read this is the most popular online game in the Phillipines. Most of the site is in another language…maybe someone here can translate…Babel Fish only translated so far.

The countdown clock shows we have (as of right now) 01 003 23 57 14 which isnt a year away. The way it looks to me is 01 month, 003 days, 23 hours, 57 minutes, 14 seconds, so the actual date this will happen is July 21st not June 21st. Also I think I figured out the confusion of the 01 being the last number and not 00. Actually it will be 00 then the hours and so on. Watch the clock when it gets closer to winding down its hour. On the last seconds of the hour it will look something like
01 months, 23 hours, 00 minutes, and 12 seconds. So the 01 Month will wind down to 00 and we will have 30 days left.

Also, I agree that it appears that this countdown won’t run out till a year from now; if you look at the timer, you’ll notice that there are three digits for the “days” section, meaning that the clock just jumps over the “month” section and right into years. Picture is from the 60’s, so not much to see there unfortunately… The truck directly in front of the Contour in the Mexico City pic had a barely visible Sun Symbol like in the comic above the passenger side of the car. I think everyone is under the same assumption, this is an ARG / Ultimate Reality Game for Viral Marketing of a new game/movie/show/comic. It is presented in a very “scary” manner to people who look into things. Most likely, this was deliberately put here because of “conspiracy nuts” and it will drive the hype.
…now that being said, I’ve seen what was done prior to 9/11 to prepare the US for this, the Lone Gunman series, the Vigilant Shield drills, the plans were in plain(plane) sight, and this gives plausible deniability to a “conspiracy”. Should a nuke attack happen that mirrors this, it is again plausible deniability that there was a conspiracy, because you’re just thinking of a web-comic.

After reading all of the replies to this story and searching for information for a while…..this is my take. I don’t know anything about Hexadecimal Code or things like that. Kudos to those of you who are able to bring us this “information”.
As I have no other information to offer…..I offer this.
Although what this all means is murky at best, I don’t believe this has anything to do with Jericho. I mean, if you are promoting a comic book, TV series, or movie….you would not do it overseas. I don’t believe Jericho aired on any British television stations. Noone in Britain would watch a show about nuclear holocaust based in another country….at least I wouldn’t because I wouldn’t be able to instert myself into the story which is alot of the fun when watching a series like Jericho.
Besides, seems like an awful waste of time and money considering most of us who would be on these sites and such would already watch Jericho without being hyped to do so. It was one of the best shows I have seen. It seems that they would be trying to reach the “everyday” person……who knows nothing of hexadecimal codes.
It could be a promotion for some other movie or something, but that makes no sense either because most, if not all, of the anticipation for it will have long died down before a whole YEAR!
It also doesn’t seem like any type of coordination between any armed forces….that would just be stupid. They wouldn’t need a website with a counter on it….they would just do whatever it is they would do over radio waves. Plus, it seems like a huge paper trail that could be followed in the event that something did take place.

I agree that the best explanation for all this is that it’s a viral marketing ploy. However, one must ask why all the “art” and so on is presented in such a slipshod, unprofessional manner? If this is advertisement for a game, I’m sure not interested in playing whatever game is about to be released.
Here is a more paranoid theory. Notice how strange apocalyptic references are made in the various jackblack web sites? Christian statements such as, “Be not deceived, Yeshua is Lord,” and so on? (All very carelessly cobbled together, as if presented for appearance sake alone.) Perhaps after the attacks take place (if they are real), the jackblack web sites will be attributed to the “coalition of home-grown extremists, Islamists, and Christian doomsday cultists” who supposedly carried out the attacks?
