I’m not sure why you’re calling Mr. Pahlavi a “stooge.” Why do you connect his desire to help the Iranian people liberate themselves from 30 years of shameless theocratic tyranny with being a puppet of anyone? It seems pretty clear to me that he stands as his own man, and no Western powers are in control of the chaos reigning in Iran these days. Whether he returns to Iran or not is up to the fates, but I’m pretty sure he’s no puppet. Also, I’d encourage some of the other commenters here to be careful to separate the son from the father. Shame on anyone who faults another for the sins of a parent. It just shows a lack of creative imagination to separate the two. If Chelsea Clinton took a public office we wouldn’t naturally assume that she would be an adulterer, so I think Reza Pahlavi should be judged as his own man. And let’s wish him well – Iranians need someone they can rally around.
