Where’s the Warming?

Every fall I pray for global warming to intensify. I realize it is supposed to mean the doom of the planet, but I keep thinking about all of the ways in which warm weather is so much more pleasant than the cold. I know that is short-sighted, but despite all of the warnings of disastrous warming, WHERE IS IT? There’s been no warming over the last decade. So what does the concept of “global warming” mean if there is no warming?
In fact, an increasing number of scientists are doubting the alarmist case. Some even–shudder!–doubt that CO2 is driving temperature changes. Writes Lorne Gunther of the National Post:
Don Easterbrook, a geologist at Western Washington University, says, “It’s practically a slam dunk that we are in for about 30 years of global cooling,” as the sun enters a particularly inactive phase. His examination of warming and cooling trends over the past four centuries shows an “almost exact correlation” between climate fluctuations and solar energy received on Earth, while showing almost “no correlation at all with CO2.”

An analytical chemist who works in spectroscopy and atmospheric sensing, Michael J. Myers of Hilton Head, S. C., declared, “Man-made global warming is junk science,” explaining that worldwide manmade CO2 emission each year “equals about 0.0168% of the atmosphere’s CO2 concentration … This results in a 0.00064% increase in the absorption of the sun’s radiation. This is an insignificantly small number.”
Other international scientists have called the manmade warming theory a “hoax,” a “fraud” and simply “not credible.”
While not stooping to such name-calling, weather-satellite scientists David Douglass of the University of Rochester and John Christy of the University of Alabama at Huntsville nonetheless dealt the True Believers a devastating blow last month.
For nearly 30 years, Professor Christy has been in charge of NASA’s eight weather satellites that take more than 300,000 temperature readings daily around the globe. In a paper co-written with Dr. Douglass, he concludes that while manmade emissions may be having a slight impact, “variations in global temperatures since 1978 … cannot be attributed to carbon dioxide.”
Moreover, while the chart below was not produced by Douglass and Christy, it was produced using their data and it clearly shows that in the past four years — the period corresponding to reduced solar activity — all of the rise in global temperatures since 1979 has disappeared.
It may be that more global warming doubters are surfacing because there just isn’t any global warming.

It’s was snowing here in Pennsylvania today just north of Philly. At the age of 34, I can’t remember a year that we had snow fall and lay before Halloween in this area. Go Phillies!!

Global warming has a minimal amount to do with…
It all comes down to the corporate/banking/military legions that are pumping more toxins/chemicals into our environment that is shared on a global basis.
Of course, the Earth is our home, along with all the millions-millions-millions of other species that we share this world with…isn’t it time that humans started to think of themselves as “co-habitors” of this beautiful and not as the rulers?
We are what we eat and the bounty of the Earth, we use to fill our stomachs. We drink from the waters of the world. We breath from the sky that we all live under…its time for all of us to know our place.
Special (economic/military) interests have been out of control – now the environment is showing us, how much so.

Money and power (same old story!!) is the reason why global warming or climate change is continualy being shoved down our throats.
How many txation increases have you seen over recent years in the name of “enironment”? In the UK in 2006 over £34 billion was payed in environment taxes from fuel duties to rubbish collections.
Every government in the world has environment departments employing politicians, civil servents etc etc.
Every newspaper and TV station in the world has “environment” correspondants who rely on the imagined environmental disaster, because they get payed to tell us about it.
Since the Thatcher government put forward the idea of climate change in the 1980’s as an excuse to build more nuclear power stations in Britain the gravy train has been rolling. And whether they agreed with the theories or not governments around the world have been raking in the taxes.
But none of these people can explain how these taxes are going to stop the climate changes, perhaps we are going to offer some kind of donation to a sun god to make the sun calm down?
Killing all the cattle in the world would have a bigger effect on the environment since the CO2 emmisions from a cows are far ot weigh those from human activities. Go to http://www.helium.com to read my article on this subject.

Really? So why was only one station commissioned during her administration and why have none been commissioned for 20 years after?

In actual fact 4 nuclear power stations were either commisioned or began generating electricty in the Uk during the mid 1980’s, and there is a new generation of reactors being planned now.
Other factors have to be considered though, the privatisation of the electricity generating industry exposed the real price of nuclear electricity, and a change of leadership (John Major) brought a change of priorities.
The main agenda of the Thatcher government, in bringing forward the climate change issue, was to close the coal pits and therefore destroy the NUM (national union of mineworkers). By increasing the number of nuclear power stations she could break the country’s reliance on coal for it’s electricity generation.
She did manage to close the coal mines in the UK, and since 1980 41 coal fired power stations have closed.
Mrs Thatcher personally instigated the establishment of the Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research, which of course backed her theories of a global warming disaster. Since the majority of scientific research requires funding, and a lot of that comes from government, even those scientists that don’t agree with the climate change theories are not going to speak out and risk a cut in funds.
