The World Health Organization said Saturday initial findings show a multi-strain swine flu which has killed up to 60 people in Mexico is responding to Roche Holding AG’s (ROG.VX) flu drug Tamiflu.
“The information we have to far is the strain is receptive to Tamiflu,” WHO spokesman Aphaluck Bhatiasevi told Dow Jones Newswires.
An emergency meeting of experts is still meeting in Geneva to discuss what the WHO has termed a “serious situation” with “pandemic potential.

Apparently Rumsfeld profited to the tune of $5M for the Tamiflu doses sold to combat the bird flu epidemic that never materialized. Don’t trust that guy as far as you can throw him-very scary guy. Not to mention his buddies W, Deadeye Dick, the Rover, et. al.

For Tamiflu to work you need 2 doses 3-4 weeks apart.
So you have to live for 3-4 weeks with the illness before you get the “cure”.
Good luck with that.
Pro’ly sell a lot of Tamiflu over this though?

Vaccinations are used for preventive purposes, they are not meant to cure you, just to prevent you from getting sick (or so they claim :S), you are injected with a virus (benevolent stain), so your body starts to produce antibodies. And they idea is, that when you contract the virus, your immunesystem will already have antibodies in stock, and will attack they virus in an more effective way. (or so THEY say,(i’m not a MD))

Looks like Donald Rumsfeld will get richer still before he stands trial for War Crimes.
He still owns stock in Gilead Sciences and may have been influential in the federal government stockpiling of Tamiflu to counteract bird flu. Judging by this story, this could be a decision that may actually turn out to be beneficial. Perhaps this is the one time in his career where he was right about something – he sure didn’t know shit about Iraq’s WMD program!

Tamiflu is not a vaccine genius’. It’s an anti viral that has been used for years and the stockpileing of it began last year, not more is being “bought” by our government or others, in fact it’s being given away. I own no stock in this product but if I did I have the foresight to see that an 8 month stockpiling doesn’t equal sales but rather debt because our govenment will not pay a dime unless the medication is actually needed and then and only then will it be used with the majority of doses given to the government not sold. But good antenna. Get lives and maybe get some life experience to top off your education or else its worthless.

Active ingredient in Tamiflu is shikimic acid found in the Chinese spice, star anise. Star anise is not hard to come by and is a food spice. Not toxic. Yummy, actually. Found in some Chai tea bags.

Back when we got all the Tamiflu, Dick Cheney was CEO of Gilead Sciences that came up with Tamiflu and licensed it to Roche. Cheney, Bush and Donald Rumsfeld are all Roche stockholders. What else could they do but their patriotic part to help “give us the bird” flu solution and pocket a few million dollars for their troubles?
What a coincidence that the WHO announced that the so-called Swine Flu responded to Tamiflu, huh?
I am sure that it is even a bigger coincidence that this flu came along just as the billions of dollars of Tamiflu lying on the shelves in the US and Britain are about to expire.
