As I wrote yesterday about the CIA program that Panetta recently disclosed to Congress:
As a former CIA agent says, the real question is who ordered the CIA to withhold the information from Congress . . .
In a nation of laws, Bush, Cheney – or whoever in the White House ordered the cover-up of the operation – would be prosecuted.
We now know who ordered the cover-up.
It was in fact Cheney.

According to the New York Times:
The Central Intelligence Agency withheld information about a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years on direct orders from former Vice President Dick Cheney, the agency’s director, Leon E. Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees…
The disclosure about Mr. Cheney’s role in the unidentified C.I.A. program comes a day after an inspector general’s report underscored the central role of the former vice president’s office in restricting to a small circle of officials knowledge of the National Security Agency’s program of eavesdropping without warrants, a degree of secrecy that the report concluded had hurt the effectiveness of the counterterrorism surveillance effort.
This is not the first time Cheney has broken the law.

What was the program that they’re covering up? Was it Cheney’s assasination squad, or perhaps some sort of operation Gladio type program. We know there were people in Iraq (probably CIA) involved in false flag events aimed at destabilizing the country, maybe this program has something to do with that.

Good question. Of course, our whole governmental system and everyone involved with it should be in prison. From our judicial, secret agencies, congress [both houses] executive branch. I don’t see one institution that is living by the laws or that of the constitution. What it amounts to is an illegitimate goverment that is nothing more than a pack of outlaws. Who in our government has the right to be judge, jury and executioner for these remote control murderings that are happening in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan?

As usual the original question of the article has been skewed by warring opinions in this forum. Why Isn’t Cheney in Jail? There should be no question as to whether what was done by him was in good intentions or not. When someone does “the right thing” but is in conflict to established law, they are called a vigilante. This person does not become absolved of judicial process merely because he or she is doing what they believe to be best. If this type of justice is acceptable in our society then let us repeal the laws and institutions that are in place to regulate on such infractions as assassination and torture. Let us live in a lawless land where civilians and military folk are entitled to administer justice as they see fit regardless of their state of mind.
The simplified truth of the matter is that America is no land of freedom or equality. It is a farm. A farm filled with sheep, shepherd dogs, and farmers. The farmers own the land and the animals and so their goal is to reap the harvest and control their livestock. The sheep graze, and the dogs herd. Humanity for the inhabitants is obsolete. If this metaphor for American life is tasteless in your opinion, I challenge you to create your own which adequately encompasses the reality of the class system and privileged hierarchy.

The Answer of course is because Democrats and Republicans control the government.
You see, I’m an American – Not a Democrat nor a Republican. I’m an American. Democrats and Republicans are both Anti-American. All you have to do is look at their track record of actually following the Constitution. Have they, in the last, oh 100 years of their pathetic existance, followed the Constitution?
If the answer is no, then they are NOT AMERICANS.

Why isn’t Cheney in jail? Do we have proof the program was ever implemented? No, so then you have to believe that it was only a mere suggestion. If it was never implemented then it wouldn’t have to go before Congress to get approval.
Besides, Cheney would have been smart not to tell Congress anyway if he really wanted to send assassins to take out terrorist leaders. The Liberals would leak it to the Washington Post or some other Liberal newspaper or the MSM about how ridiculous of an idea it was so it can make the Bush Administration look even worse. I’m all for covert operations and the only way to ensure they work is to let as few people to know about as possible. Otherwise, Americans die.
This is just another opportunity to make Panetta and Pelosi to look good. Cheney did nothing wrong and you know it. Fighting terrorists is messy work and Cheney wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty.
