Worker dies at Long Island Wal-Mart after being trampled in Black Friday stampede

A Wal-Mart worker died after being trampled when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island store Friday morning, police and witnesses said.
The 34-year-old employee, a temporary maintenance worker, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.
Witnesses said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.

“He was bum-rushed by 200 people,” said Jimmy Overby, 43, a co-worker. “They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too…I literally had to fight people off my back.”
The unidentified victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 a.m., police said.
The cause of death wasn’t immediately available pending results of an autopsy.
A 28-year-old pregnant woman was knocked to the floor during the mad rush. She was hospitalized for observation, police said. Early witness accounts that the woman suffered a miscarriage were unfounded, police said.

Poor guy. When I saw the headline I assumed it was an old man, but this guy was 34. Jesus, what a horrible way to die. What’s wrong with these people? They killed a man, and for what, to save a few dollars on a Playstation 3? The sad thing is, nobody will be prosecuted for this. Maybe the store will be sued, but the a-hole shoppers who stomped on this dude’s head won’t have any consequences.

Now a 34 year old is dead because a pack of brainwashed ravenous consumers just had to buy some SHIT they dont even need. I read a lot of bad news and I can handle it, but there is something about this story that is tough to swallow.
Maybe some will realize how far we’ve fallen as a society. I’m not very religious but I ask myself in this situation. What would Jesus do?

Many years ago some people were killed at a Who concert. After that event many changes took place in how concerts were handled. Today people have been trampled underfoot to the point of losing their lives. Uh…WTF?!
These types of sales events need to be stopped and the public in general need to stop be willing pawns in this corporate cluster*uck!

Hey have you ever been on the other side of the glass door? I HAVE !! Post Exchange at the 29 Palms, CA. Marine Base. I worked there and once had to open that door with 500 crazy shoppers at the ready. I know exactly how it feels, trust me it ain’t pretty. Some of those knuckleheads camp out all night to be first in line, like homeless people nowhere else to go. And guess what!!! THE FREEK’IN WOMEN ARE WORSE THAN THE MEN! They give “shop till you drop” a whole new meaning.

I do freelance work for a living (telcom, photog, landscaping, construction cleanup, whatever someone is willing to pay to have done), some people call that unemployed, however I bust my butt five to ten hours a day and I average about $100 a day. Not elitist by any standard. I do not have to compromise my standards to anyone. And everyone has the same options I have. (unless of coarse they are disabled in some way, but then again, wallmart is not the best place to have a disabled person work either.)

When shoppers where told to leave this Walmart because someone had just been killed(murdered), they responded angrily with responses such as ” But Ive been here since Thusday!”, etc.

Two couples are shopping in a “Toys r Us” on “Black Friday”. The females start to argue over a toy, which eventually leads to their respective husbands drawing guns and shooting each other. Both husbands died.

OK OK OK, I’ve been telling people for the last year to prepare to fend for themselves, basically to stock enough food for 2 months and buy hunting and fishing equipment and get educated on farming because of possible food shortages, they just think i’m crazy and when i say “what happens if you can’t get food from the grocery store… society will break into complete anarchy” they always just think i’m crazy and say that it can’t happen and we would get taken care of. Meanwhile people kill each other over 300$ playstations and big screen TV’s which last i checked aren’t a requirement for survival.
AGAIN PEOPLE, get ready for hard times, during the last great depression, 80% of people were still substistent on home farms and population was like around 2billion poeple worldwide. In todays day and age, less than 5% of people are subsistent on family farms and there are near 7 billion people on the planet. If we have food shortages it will get very ugly very quick. PREPARE NOW

actually my plan is to fuck off during the panic, while everybody is flooding and rioting on stores, my wife me and 2 kids will be hightailing it up north in the back roads, with our prospectors tent, artic sleeping bags, fishing and hunting gear, and a few months supply of food for when you can’t catch anything, i already have the gas purchased for the trip sitting in my garage, about 20 gallons worth, just enough to get me the fuck away from society. my extended family gets 1 chance of coming along, if not they won’t be able to find me and they won’t be able to contact me. My old man is already on board with the plan as he believes that it’s gonna happen within the next year as well, i turned him onto the truth in about 2004. We grew up in the north and know how to live off of the land.
