Yahoo announced plans today to encrypt all internal traffic following the National Security Agency disclosures by Edward Snowden.
Following similar moves by other companies such as Google, Yahoo’s chief executive said they will add extra levels of security to the company’s business operation by early 2014.
Marissa Mayer, Yahoo’s CEO, said: “As you know, there have been a number of reports over the last six months about the U.S. government secretly accessing user data without the knowledge of tech companies, including Yahoo.
“I want to reiterate what we have said in the past: Yahoo has never given access to our data centres to the NSA or any other government agency. Ever.”
