Amazon says ‘human error’ allowed an Alexa user to eavesdrop on 1,700 private audio files from another person

A surprising glitch meant an Alexa user in Germany was able to access some 1,700 voice recordings from a stranger. 

Amazon blamed the situation on ‘a human error’ by the company.

It all started when the customer had asked to listen back to recordings of his own activities made by Alexa.

Instead, Amazon sent him a link to more than a thousand audio files from a stranger.

‘This unfortunate case was the result of a human error and an isolated single case,’ an Amazon spokesman said on Thursday.

‘We resolved the issue with the two customers involved and took measures to further optimize our processes.
