Worlds collide as The Colbert Report's Stephen Colbert is interviewed by Bill O'Reilly on the FOX host's O'Reilly Factor.

"I've been waiting for this my whole life, sir," says Colbert to O'Reilly in the tongue-in-cheek encounter that aired this evening. O'Reilly starts off by questioning the "French" pronunciation of Colbert's name and comes back to that subject several times in the interview.

Among many humorous exchanges that often had the studio crew laughing aloud, O'Reilly knocks Jon Stewart's audience of "stoned slackers" and asks Colbert if his greater success is driving Stewart "to smoke more substances." The Daily Show host "was high most of the time I was over there," replies Colbert, who got his start with Stewart.

FOX News host Bill O'Reilly appeared Thursday evening on The Colbert Report, just after Stephen Colbert appeared on FOX's The O'Reilly Factor.

"Folks, we are ready to rumble," Colbert says as he introduces "Papa Bear" O'Reilly to his audience, amid cheers and a smattering of boos.

"This was a huge mistake, me coming on here," O'Reilly says at one point. Later, O'Reilly kids that he could be elected mayor of San Francisco, and, after O'Reilly says "this is all an act," Colbert tells the FOX host, "If you're an act, then what am I?"
