Beto’s got the blues.
The one-time media darling held his first campaign rally in Los Angeles over the weekend and it was a bummer.
Jon Hotchkiss was on the scene Saturday and showed video of the underwhelming crowd size. The large lawn playing host to the event was still very green.
Watch his report:
“The turnout has been miniscule, and that’s being generous,” Hotchkiss told viewers.
According to Hotchkiss, the campaign estimated over 2,000 people would show up, when only 500 did.
Meanwhile, LA Daily News reporter Kevin Modesti may have accidentally exposed one weak sector of the Trump economy: merchants of Beto gear.
They're getting ready for a Beto O'Rourke presidential campaign rally this evening at L.A. Trade Tech College. Is it a good sign that Beto merchandise is on sale? ("It's incentive to buy," the vendor explained.) pic.twitter.com/dMFOD403UF

“Buy one t-shirt, get the second one 1/2 off,” the neon sign read on the front of the merch table.
“Is it a good sign that Beto merchandise is on sale?” Modesti wondered.
“It’s incentive to buy,” he says the vendor told him.
