There was a time when American dignitaries would speak in favor of individual liberty and basic human rights when traveling to a totalitarian state like China. Today, we have Vice President Biden ensuring his Chinese hosts that he was passing no judgement at all on their inhumane one-child policy, and he merely spoke in terms of the dangers to the social safety net the policy will create.
