The acting director of the Centers for Disease Control said Thursday that the World Health Organization’s recent move to raise its alert level for a potential pandemic of the swine flu a positive development. On Wednesday, WHO raised its warning level to 5, with 6 signifying an actual global pandemic. “This is a good thing, it’s a wake-up call to the global community,” said the CDC’s Richard Besser. He added that the level 5 alert will push nations to “pull out their pandemic plans” and determine what resources they will need to deal with a pandemic.
