“I think that Michelle Obama’s on Ellen more than I am,” says Joe Dirt star

President Obama should have more dignity than to appear on reality shows and magazine covers, Hollywood actor and SNL alum David Spade said in a recent interview.
Asked to elaborate on a tweet sent out earlier this month critical of the president’s December 17 appearance on Running Wild with Bear Grylls, the Joe Dirt star slammed the president’s and First Lady’s repeated attempts to remain in the public spotlight as “a bit thirsty.”
“I criticized Obama because I thought, you know, a president should have a little more dignity than… I mean I realize Woodrow Wilson went on Dancing With the Stars once,” Spade joked.
“But what president does reality shows? It just sounds weird to me, you know what I mean? It’s just too much,” Spade told a reporter for entertainment gossip site TMZ.
Spade, who most recently appeared in Adam Sandler’s The Ridiculous 6, earlier this month inquired in a now-deleted tweet why the president was appearing on reality TV.
“Why is Obama on Bear Grills trying to survive in the tundra? Isnt the idea to keep the prez alive? And why is he on a reality show?WTF ?,” the Tommy Boy actor wrote.
Spade went on to criticize the First Lady’s TV spots as well as the president’s frequent appearances on the cover of GQ magazine, speculating they were preparing for life outside of the White House.
“I think that Michelle Obama’s on Ellen more than I am,” the Emperor’s New Groove voice actor told TMZ. “It’s just a new world. It’s just I’m not used to it… It just seems a bit thirsty for me.”
“He’s on GQ, I’m like, ‘Leave that to Bradley Cooper,’” Spade continued. “You don’t need to go… You’re the president, you’re above all of us. You’re above stars, you’re above everything. When he’s trying to get in the mix like, ‘I want to present at the MTV awards,’ it’s like, ‘Alright, guy. Relax. You’ve got it.’”
