Children as young as five in Scotland are to be allowed to choose their own gender.
According to teaching materials created jointly by Education Scotland, the Scottish government and the NHS, pupils will be asked to decide whether they are a boy, a girl or neither.
Campaigners for family values and some politicians have criticised the move, saying that children would be “confused” by such an adult subject. Chris McGovern, chairman of the Campaign for Real Education, told the Scottish Mailon Sunday: “At this age, children believe in goblins and dragons and don’t understand adult issues yet. These discussions at such a young age will be very confusing.”
The guidelines are contained in an online educational resource for Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP)…
