Coronavirus isn’t the problem.
Hysteria is the problem — and it is getting to be a big one:
A United Airlines flight from Colorado to Newark on Sunday was forced to land in Denver after several passengers became upset about a sneezing and coughing passenger they thought was sick.
Sneezing and coughing do not constitute unusual behavior, particularly during flu and allergy season.
Sure enough, the passenger was merely suffering from allergies, like countless other people. After proving not to have a fever, the passenger was allowed to continue on the flight.
Chickens running around the barnyard with their heads cut off. That’s what the media and a neurotic obsession with absolute safety have reduced us to.
In the end, coronavirus may turn out to be more harmful than the flu only in terms of economics and disruption. Virtually all of this harm will be unnecessary.
