Jonathan Geffroy is an ex-ISIS soldier and is now cooperating with French authorities. Newspaper L’express obtained and published some of the frightening transcripts of his conversations with them.
Jonathan G. spent two years in the Iraqi-Syrian zone before he was captured in the beginning of 2017 by the Free Syrian Army. He was then transferred to French authorities and is fully cooperating with them.
The 35-year-old ex-jihadist worked with the “Clain Brothers”, ISIS’s chief propagandists, who’ve claimed responsibility for the Paris attacks.
Jean-Michel Clain, who calls himself “Abu Othman”, “has an important position in Daesh”. “He was in the field of information transmission of the Islamic State and he was in contact with Ajna, the highest authorities of the Islamic State,” Jonathan says.
“The Clain family is aware of everything, they are close to scientists, media and officials,” Jonathan continues. He was one of the rare “privileged” who could go to Jean-Michel Clain, in Raqqa.
When asked about the Brussels airport bombing, he says that “they weren’t prepared” but “ triggered” by the arrest of Paris attacker Salah Abdeslam, who planned the attack on the Bataclan theatre.
“Othman said to me that in effort to avoid everybody’s arrest, they targeted Zaventem’s airport in Brussels, but the original target was a French nuclear power plant. They planned to drive to the plants and blow up their cars”, Jonathan adds.
