Funny or Die took aim at the Ferguson Police Department in a new “Cops”-themed skit starring David Koechner as an excessively violent and paranoid cop who says their problem is that they “respect [the people of Ferguson] too much,” and that while some cities use violence as a last resort, Ferguson police think otherwise:
“A lot of cities like to use to violence as a last resort, but we’ve found it’s pretty fun to just use it as a first resort. Sometimes I just point my gun at anyone walking around.”
“Sometimes things get out of of hand, and you have to fall back on your training,” he explains.
The skit also mocks the issue of the militarization of the police. After Koechner references the tons of weapons they’re packing, he gives a shout out to the Feds:
“Thank you Congress and the Pentagon for all the cool ass sh*t,” he says, adding, “Still waiting on those sidewinder missiles.”
After a series of excessive responses by the officers to non-situations like a cat in a tree, a backyard BBQ, and a kid walking down the street, the skit concludes with Koechner saying, “Sometimes to keep a town safe you have to take it over and arrest everybody. That’s America. That’s the best part of America.”
