Huge queues of people were forming outside supermarkets across London before they had even opened as panic buying continues.
It is understood a queue of 300 people had formed outside an Asda on the Isle of Dogs by 6am on Thursday, March 19 – before the store had opened.
Reports from other parts of London suggest that in some cases people were sleeping in their cars to get to the shops early.
Similar scenes are being reported from shops across the city including in New Cross Gate, Twickenham and Brentford.
Even the dedicated hour for elderly people has seen similar chaos with one Ilford woman reporting that her trolley of groceries was taken from one of the aisles after she left it for a second to find something.
