Happy Labor Day, folks. If you work for the government or go to school that probably means something to you.

For the rest of us, it’s Monday. Some of us are working. Others are firing up the barbecue. Then, there’s these fast food employees. They’re busy holding a strike to demand 15 bucks an hour.

Fast food workers across the country walked off the job Monday in their Fight for 15.

Workers at the McDonald’s on Tremont Street in Boston are some of hundreds who marched off the job.

The Labor Day march is part of a years-long push to raise the country’s minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Minimum wage in Massachusetts is now $11 per hour.

Here we go again…

These workers want a better wage, but they’re going about it all wrong. Instead of working harder and moving up the ladder, they’re taking the day off to whine. In the process, hastening their replacement by Skynet computer boxes that won’t forget to hold the pickles on my quarter pounder with cheese. If the workers’ goal is to move up, they’re not doing themselves any favors.

Some states have already adopted a $15 minimum wage. It’s not working out quite as well as they expected. In fact, their workers are actually earning LESS. Just a minor kink, I suppose.

Fast food workers expect to make a doctor’s wages for flipping burgers. But, here in reality, that’s not really feasible. Unless, of course, you’re into the idea of taking out a second mortgage to buy a happy meal. The misguided workers also want a union. That understandable, considering the magic unions worked in Detroit. They made the city disappear completely. Impressive stuff.

Leftists don’t seem to understand how making money works. When you’re in a skilled field and good at your job, the moolah practically makes itself. Working part time at Pizza Hut and slacking off? Not so much. If these fast food workers are unhappy with where they stack up in the grand scheme of things, perhaps a change is in order. Despite what they may think, it’s never too late to learn new skills and work harder.
