During Monday’s edition of Morning Joe, co-host Joe Scarborough argued that anyone who subscribed to the idea that former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe have an animus against President Trump should not handle “anything sharp because you will hurt yourself because you are too incompetent actually to use any basic household appliances.”
Not surprisingly, the panel had plenty to say about Comey’s interview with ABC’s George Stephanopolous ahead of the release of his book A Higher Loyalty. Co-host Mika Brzezinski brought up a Washington Post report claiming that White House officials set up a meeting between President Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at Mar-a-lago at the time of the book’s release in an effort to “distract President Trump from what James Comey would say.”
After Brzezinski pointed out that Comey served as the target of “six of the seven tweets President Trump sent before heading out to play golf,” her fiancé Scarborough jeered that the President’s advisors decided to “use Japan to distract the President from acting like a child.” The duo could have also pointed out that Comey’s obsession with the President’s “bright white half moons” under his eyes could also fall into the “acting like a child” category.
After Brzezinski read aloud a Trump tweet about Comey, Scarborough weighed in: “It needs to be repeated as much as possible that the President is claiming that he was the victim of a conspiracy that elected him President.”
