At a joint press conference in London on Tuesday, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May thanked President Trump for putting pressure on the NATO members who were not paying what they agreed to and getting results. But instead of the reporting on that praise during their evening newscasts, the liberal broadcast networks chose to hype anti-Trump protesters, including an effigy of him on the toilet, and acted shocked that Trump would complement his hosts.
“Since we spoke about NATO during my first visit to the White House, we have maintained our support for this crucial alliance. Thanks in part to your clear message on burden sharing, Donald, we have seen members pledge another $100 billion, increasing their contributions to our shared security,” May boasted before the press.
Proving their ridiculousness in omitting this part of the story, CBS News actually tweeted out a video of May’s positive comments earlier in the day.
CBS White House correspondent Ben Tracy never mentioned those particular compliments from May during the CBS Evening News. But he did find time to quip about how Trump “may have seen this, a blimp depicting him as an angry baby” on his ride to see the Prime Minister.
He even shared his segment with CBS foreign correspondent Roxana Saberi so she could talk about how “several thousand protesters were in the street, far fewer than on the President’s previous last summer but still passionate.”
