Parkland student: Clarence Thomas told me the Second Amendment ‘won’t be touched’

A conservative survivor of the Parkland, Fla., school shooting in February that killed 17 people says Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas assured him the Second Amendment “won’t be touched” amid renewed debate on gun control.

Kyle Kashuv tweeted a picture of himself with the conservative Supreme Court judge on Thursday night, saying that Thomas “told me about some of the cases he dissented on and how #2A won’t be touched.”

Thomas’s apparent remarks to Kashuv follow an op-ed in The New York Times from former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment last month.

In his op-ed, Stevens urged pro-gun control Parkland students and other demonstrators across the country to call for a full repeal of the Second Amendment, arguing that it would create more lasting and effective change to curb gun violence.
