Protests planned as Trump visits Paris to commemorate Bastille Day

Donald Trump has arrived in Paris ahead of France’s annual Bastille Day commemorations, with protesters declaring “no go areas” for the US President.

Activists plan to gather at the famous Place de la Republique, ahead of main event on Friday which President Trump will attend alongside his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

The Bastille anniversary also marks 100 years since the US entered World War One, with President Macron inviting Mr Trump to Paris to honour the historical co-operation between their nations.

But there are fears the visit could be overshadowed by people demonstrating against Trump’s policies on climate change and immigration, as well as Macron’s own plans to loosen labour laws.
