Russia could use robots to poison food for ‘untraceable’ AI assassinations in ‘chilling new Cold War’

RUSSIA could use robots to poison food for “untraceable” assassinations of state exiles, an expert has warned.

Computer science professor Dr Jeremy Straub said technology that hacks into a meal-ordering system before tampering with the food could become a weapon of a “Cold War future”.

The Kremlin and Britain are locked in a vicious stand-off after the poisoning of an ex-Russian spy with a nerve gas.

Prime Minister Theresa May has pointed the finger of blame at Putin’s Russia for the attack on Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter, Yulia, 33.

And future attacks on Russian exiles could be untraceable because of artificial intelligence, Dr Straub told the Daily Star Online.

He said: “Certainly when you think about a robot, that (assassinating a target) would be something that a robot certainly could do.
