The mother of a child killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting has responded to Sunday night’s mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert.
Nelba Márquez-Greene, whose 6-year-old daughter was killed when a gunman opened fire at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., wrote on Twitter that Congress is to blame for not taking action against gun violence.
“This is on every congressperson who said in ‘13: There is simply nothing we could do,” Márquez-Greene wrote.

In a series of 18 tweets, Márquez-Greene criticizes the idea that the shooting was a result of political divisions that have arisen since President Trump’s election.
“Oh, please. Newtown happened well before trump was elected,” she wrote. “We need sensible gun legislation and we need it now.”
