On Virgin’s official blog for Richard Branson, the billionaire entrepreneur is calling for an end to the war on drugs “worldwide.”
His post is extremely important, for a couple of reasons.
First off, Branson is respected the world over for his business and philanthropic achievements, and policymakers will hopefully listen to his advice. He isn’t some dude on Weed Wars praising the virtues of “totally gnarly reefer.”
It’s time the world joined the 21st century and approach drug use as a social and health problem, rather than as a criminal problem that deserves decades in prison.
Branson’s post doesn’t appeal to your emotions. It appeals to your sense of logic: he draws heavily upon Portugal’s decade-long drug decriminalization experiment, an experiment with profound implications for all other nations.
