Trump: CIA Decision To Rule Out Waterboarding Is “Ridiculous”

“They chop off heads and they drown people in cages”

GOP front runner Donald Trump has slammed an announcement by the head of the CIA that the intelligence agency will no longer use “enhanced interrogation” techniques such as waterboarding.

The CIA’s claim was announced Monday following an interview [1] John Brennan gave to NBC News.

Brennan said the CIA will not resort to such tactics under his watch, even if a future president orders it to do so.

“I will not agree to carry out some of these tactics and techniques I’ve heard bandied about, because this institution needs to endure,” Brennan said in the interview scheduled to be broadcast tonight.

“Absolutely, I would not agree to having any CIA officer carrying out waterboarding again,” he said.

Trump reacted with fury, claiming that the techniques, branded as torture by many, are essential to combat extremists.

“We have a huge problem with ISIS,” Trump said on “Fox and Friends,” adding “The reason we can’t beat them is we won’t use strong tactics.”

“They chop off heads and they drown people in cages with 50 in a cage and big, steel, heavy cages. Drop them right into the water, drown people, and we can’t waterboard and we can’t do anything and we’re playing on different fields,” Trump said Monday.

“Can you imagine these ISIS guys sitting around eating and talking about how our country won’t waterboard after they’ve chopped off 50 heads?” Trump added, calling the CIA decision “ridiculous.”

The likely Republican nominee has continuously advocated such methods, saying that compared to the actions of ISIS, waterboarding, which was banned by Obama under an executive order, is nothing.
