Intelligence officials have repeatedly warned of ‘gaping holes’ in refugee vetting

President-elect Donald Trump responded to ISIS claiming responsibility for the OSU attack, saying that the attacker, a Somalian immigrant, should never have been allowed into the country.

“ISIS is taking credit for the terrible stabbing attack at Ohio State University by a Somali refugee who should not have been in our country,” Trump tweeted:

It was revealed earlier in the week that the attacker, Abdul Razak Ali Artan, traveled to the United States in 2014 as a legal permanent resident.

ISIS’ propaganda arm described Artan as “a soldier of God,” and claimed that he was inspired by the Islamic State’s terrorist manual.

Before the rampage, which left 11 seriously injured, the attacker posted a message on Facebook, which was subsequently made public by police.

“By Allah, we will not let you sleep unless you give peace to the Muslims. You will not celebrate or enjoy any holiday,” Artan wrote.

“Btw, every single Muslim who disapproves of my actions is a sleeper cell, waiting for a signal. I am warning you Oh America.” he also wrote.

Trump’s words echo his previous call for all undocumented refugees and migrants to be prevented from entering the US until a vetting system can be established.

The State Department has admitted that ISIS is smuggling terrorists into the US among refugees.

In addition, US intelligence officials have repeatedly warned that there are ‘gaping holes’ in the current vetting process, and that there is really no way to vet all refugees coming into the country from the Middle East.

It can be no coincidence that firearms sales are still at record highs. FBI statistics released this week reveal that a record number of Americans applied for background checks on Black Friday, smashing previous records for the consummerist day and any single day in general.

On Monday, Trump said his “thoughts and prayers are with all of the students and administration.” He also praised the “excellent job” of OSU’s first responders and emergency management team.
