Good morning from The Oval. On this day in 1898, an assault up Cuba’s San Juan Hill during the Spanish-American War boosted the political career of its leader: Theodore Roosevelt.
It looks like a slow Friday for President Obama, who has nothing on his public schedule except for late afternoon departure to Camp David for the July 4th weekend.
Behind the scenes, however, we suspect White House and congressional aides are working on a deal to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling while cutting the budget, even as Republican lawmakers and Obama trade barbs over tax increases.
