Louder With Crowder
March 1, 2017
Grab a latte, you’re going to enjoy this. But you probably won’t be buying one from Starbucks, because like CNN, they’re losing popularity amongst the people. Yes, shocker of shocks, a new poll shows CNN’s numbers are dropping like Rousey kicked in the noggin. Too soon?
CNN is currently trending below where it was over the first several months of 2016, when all three cable networks were in a consumer perception dogfight.
CNN’s negative acceleration point happened in mid-October 2016, around the time Anderson Cooper interviewed Melania Trump, notably discussing her husband’s famous “Access Hollywood” tape. Also at that time, a local North Carolina Republican office was firebombed, causing conservative-leaning media to pounce on CNN for suggesting Trump’s rhetoric spurred the incident.
CNN is suggesting it’s Trump’s fault for calling them “fake news.” I’m suggesting this drop in credibility and popularity has everything to do with them responding to “How to Suck More: a Ten Step Guide” with dog-like obedience. Here, allow me to present a list, which doth document CNN’s attention to soiling their reputation.
For the mathematically challenged, that’s five. Interior design calls for grouping in odd numbers. It’s more natural. I hope you enjoyed that tiny tidbit of detail and lead a life more balanced and feng shui. Namaste.
CNN not only ran with the “fake news is a major problem and we should totes fix it before another Republican gets elected, or gee-gosh-darn we’ll be in heaps of trouble,” they pushed fake news. Which is why “fake news” is now a punch line creeping up on “your mom” in popularity.
See what I did there? It’s the end of the day, give me a break. Look at this graph, it’s a fun visual reputation of CNN. Picture the rating system like a pool, and CNN is doing a doggy-paddle ala a great, big… rock.
To make matters even funnier for people who hate CNN (ahem, me) guess who’s more popular than they are?
Over the past several weeks, MSNBC’s perception rose 50% while CNN’s has been bumpy. Both networks are scoring in negative sentiment territory while Fox News Channel is right at the neutral mark, with equal positive and negative.
MSNBC. Put some ointment on that burn. I recommend coconut oil. Iz all natural.
Oh to be Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon today. No, not because the gay, because they’re getting screwed by the network which used to serve as the rectum hole of all the ratings jokes. I guess this paragraph serves as a double entendre. I would apologize, but I’m actually not sorry. I can’t say the same for the marketing department at CNN.
Moral of the story? Maybe, I don’t know, report accurately without an agenda if you want to be an unbiased news source. Kind of like how bakeries sell baked goods. Goodyear sells tires. Dentists make you question all your life choices. Sell what you say you’re selling, and the people tend to trust you.
After this I’m going into life coaching.
