“There’s a Constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”

Hillary Clinton proved once again that she has little respect for the US Constitution Wednesday when, during an anti-Second Amendment rant, she confused founding documents by referring to the Declaration of Independence.

During an appearance on the Steve Harvey Show Clinton said “We’ve got to say to the gun lobby, you know what, there is a constitutional right for people to own guns.”

“But there’s also a Constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that enables us to have a safe country — where we are able to protect our children and others from this senseless gun violence.” Clinton added.

Clinton mixed in the preamble of the Declaration of Independence with the Bill of Rights.

Sure, a fourth grader might make this mistake, but is it ok for someone who is running for President to do so?

RNC spokesman James Hewitt did not think so:

“Heckuva gaffe to have in the middle of an intensifying debate over the Supreme Court,” spokesman James Hewitt said in a statement. “Yale Law School graduate Hillary Clinton who supports a judicial litmus test on abortion, just misquoted the constitution and in doing so, backed ‘a constitutional right to life.’ Nice job Hillary!”

Hillary made gun control a key element of her closing comments during a campaign stops this week in South Carolina.

“Imagine a tomorrow where we have common-sense gun safety measures that will save lives, that will protect Americans going about their daily business,” she told a crowd of supporters at Cumberland United Methodist Church, mixing in tales of gun violence, while vowing to fight the “corporate gun lobby.”

“We need to close the gun show loophole, the online loophole and what is called the Charleston loophole, which my opponent supported, which means that at the end of three days, whether the background check is done or not you get the gun,” Clinton said. “That’s what the killer here in Charleston did.”
