Interesting talk on the Joe Rogan Experience about SJWs, college, and the idea of “reverse racism.” Joe was talking with Eric Weinstein, brother of Brett Weinstein who was at the center of the Evergreen college controversy (see WATCH: Vice News Reports On Leftist Students Running Evergreen College… and Evergreen College Students Make Asses of Themselves. Mad it’s All on Camera). It was a good conversation.

Rogan: Evergreen college is an amazing example of what can go wrong if you let these crazy children dictate the way human beings are allowed to behave and the way discourse takes place on campus. The cliff notes version, the school would have “a day of absence” where people of color would take off from school where people would miss them. Instead of doing that, the social justice warrior mentality that thinks that every white man is an oppressor and you need to figure out away to eradicate them from the world. They decided to go the opposite route and force white staff and white students to stay home. [Brett] rightly protested saying that is inherently racist. What you’re proposing is racist.

Weinstein: And the problem is the diversity movement, which has now become the equity movement, is actually racist. I don’t even want to say it’s reverse racism, it’s openly racist.

Rogan: There’s no such thing as ‘reverse racism.’ There’s either racism or there’s no racism.

My main reasons for bringing this up: it’s a good example of the importance of engaging the culture and getting outside of the conservative echo chamber. Because, as you’ll notice here, Rogan and Weinstein said stuff conservatives say all the time. This could have easily have been a conversation between Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh. And if it was, it would easily be dismissed in the mainstream as “conservative propaganda” at best.

No one is going to confuse Joe Rogan as being a talk radio-listening TEA partying MAGA’er (I think that’s a word). Other than leftists who think he’s a conservative podcaster, just because he’s willing to talk to conservatives (which neither Eric or Brett are). Or accept that we may have a point. When you see how batshit crazy the left has gotten lately, people are increasingly more receptive to that point.

Does that mean we agree on everything? Of course not. But when there’s common ground, we should talk about and celebrate it. As much as the outside complains about the “mushy middle,” that where the battlefield is.
