Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) said on Tuesday that she never called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, but her past statements show that is not the case.
“I have not called for impeachment,” Waters told MSNBC’s Craig Melvin.
“You said I’m going to fight every day until he’s impeached! That’s what you tweeted,” Melvin said.
“Yeah, but here’s what I’ve said,” Waters responded. “I’ve said that we need the information. We need to connect the dots. We need the facts in order to do the impeachment, and I’m going to work every day to try and help get those facts and to reveal them to the republic, to our public, until of course impeachment [has] taken place.”
Since Trump was sworn in as president, Waters has repeatedly stated that she wouldn’t work with Trump and that her goal is to lead him into impeachment.
