Why is the Media Calling Rioters in Charlotte “Protesters”?

They’re not protesters, they’re violent criminal thugs

After a second night of rioters in Charlotte staging violent unrest, looting, attacking bystanders, attacking journalists, setting fires, smashing up cars, smashing up businesses and shooting at each other, the media is still describing the criminal thugs behind the rampage as “protesters”.

Stealing and looting cash registers from local businesses is NOT a legitimate form of protest.

What is unfolding in Charlotte is objectively, manifestly, provably NOT a protest. It’s a violent, unjustified riot by criminals and thugs.

Why is the media giving it legitimacy by still referring to it as a protest?

If mobs of white supremacists were looting stores, setting fires, attacking journalists and shooting guns, would the media call it a protest?
